Temporary suspension to mediation services

During the COVID-19 pandemic the Trust is taking all reasonable precautions to ensure that illness and infection do not spread in the workplace between employees, therefore all face to face mediation meetings are temporarily suspended.

If concerns and issues do arise in the workplace it’s essential we continue to have open dialogue and opportunities for reflecting and learning. The Trust actively encourages an early intervention approach to resolve any workplace disagreement, each of us can play a role at any stage in an employee dispute to step back and consider a practical and people centred approach to dealing with issues.

You can take personal responsibility with an employee led approach. Making someone aware of unwanted behaviours by talking with them in a constructive way is the first step in addressing issues that have an impact. This can be daunting at first but open honest dialogue can lead to early resolution. Being sensitive and aware of your colleagues and of your own feelings, will help you to make a judgement of what is contextually appropriate and help you do what feels right - in the right way.

If you feel unable to discuss the situation with the other person on a one to one basis, then talk to your line manager to ask for support with a manager led approach. Be prepared that for change to happen, your manager may need to have those sensitive conversations with the other person and you together, so do give thought to how you will approach any discussions in a way that constructively works for everyone.

We will resume access to our mediation service and mediator led approach to resolving concerns as and when Government policy and guidance develops to enable us to do so safely.
