Thank you for your bank holiday efforts

If you worked, or volunteered, over the bank holiday weekend, your hard work did not go unnoticed. You helped handle and respond to a huge number of calls, over a weekend when the weather reached record temperatures.

The busiest day was Sunday 25th August, with the highest number of calls coming from Essex

This was due to a series of incidents on the Essex coast. Our Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), Leading Operations Managers (LOMs), National Inter-Agency Liaison Officer (NILO) and Tactical and Gold Commander worked tirelessly at Frinton, Clacton and Walton sea fronts, treating a large number of people at the scene, suffering from coughing. Our staff found patients' symptoms improved after coming out of the water and issued further advice and guidance.

Dorothy Hosein, Interim Chief Executive, said:

“Thank you to all those who worked in record temperatures over the bank holiday weekend. I appreciate the difficulty this might have created, while working hard to maintain an outstanding service for patients. As the hot weather carries on into this week, please try to keep well and hydrated.”

Thank you once again to all involved.
