It is often said that ‘knowledge is power’, and safe clinical practice is definitely based upon the ability to put theory into practice. With this in mind, we are pleased to officially launch the second edition of our Clinical Manual.
Designed as an easy to reference guide to support clinical practice, the manual serves as a Trust-wide document for whatever frontline role you work in across the region.
The clinical manual, which this year has a yellow front cover, has intentionally been designed to carry with you and complement rather than repeat national clinical guidelines.
As last year, the manual is going to be provided to everyone working on the frontline, as well as all of our volunteer community first responders. Each section of the manual is colour coded for different staff groups:
Everyone gets the same manual regardless of job role so that, as members of the care delivery team, we all know the different parts we have to play. As always however, you should only undertake skills in which you have been trained, are within your scope of practice and in which you feel confident. If you are unsure please discuss this with your line manager, or during an incident call the clinical advice line.
The copy of the manual is yours to keep, so please feel free to annotate it etc. and make it your own.
We plan to continue publishing a new edition of the manual annually to coincide with the professional update programme – your input is welcome for the next edition, so please feedback your ideas to clinicalmanual@eastamb.nhs.uk.
Copies of the new manual are being distributed around the Trust so all staff should be receiving their personal copy in the next few weeks.
