Cambs PTS contract starts on Thursday

Since winning the contract earlier this year, the PTS team has been working hard with commissioners to transform the existing contract to a brand new, large-scale agreement, with no loss of efficiency to patient transport.

The team has recruited new control room staff, patient transport drivers and ambulance care assistants are now qualified to drive on blue lights.

Supporting these new staff, fleet have been busy buying new PTS vehicles, which will have been arriving over the past few weeks.

We are also expanding our patient eligibility screening services in Norwich and all Cambridgeshire patients will now be assessed against eligibility criteria. Pictured are some of the new staff who have been going through call centre training at Hellesdon – welcome to the Trust, everyone!

Liz McEwan, Head of Non-Emergency Services, said: ““I am delighted to see the new service has begun successfully. The new contract is much bigger than the previous one and the expanded service will be hugely encouraging news to the patients of Cambridgeshire.

“The PTS team would like to thank all the staff for their patience during this time of transition and also thank the departments who have assisted the mobilisation project team – estates, fleet, HR, procurement, training, finance, business development, and the Cambridgeshire management team to name a few.”
