Once again, I am pleased to be providing the leadership message. As a Trust we will be heads down and fully focused on making sure our patients are kept safe.  I wanted to say now, thank you for all your hard work to keep our patients exceptionally well cared for.

Today I attended the Winter learning event, where both Dr Tom Davis and I presented on the lessons learnt from last Winter and the actions identified to take forward in preparation and planning for the next Winter period.

We pointed out that the average number of calls are down on the previous year by 4% and the average number of patients responded to were up by 4% on last year, which is encouraging. 

We have been discussing ePCR which is no longer new to the organisation. We have decided to include the completion of the patient care record within the job cycle time brings us in line with other ambulance services nationally. This follows a pilot in an operational area.

This pilot, review of current best practice alongside quantitative and qualitative data from frontline staff has supported the decision to remove the out of service code for ePCR from Monday 3rd June. We recognise this is a change to working practice and thank you for your understanding and support in this new approach. A quality improvement methodology will be used to measure the impact of this change; we will share the outcomes of this change with you via clinical huddles and NTK. Important notice: Removal of ePCR OOS code trial

As I said in my last message, there is continued focus on recruitment and training of new staff across all the service delivery team. We have seen people progress into different roles and to ensure we continue to support our patients; more people are a priority. Focused work is being undertaken for PTS around support and integration with emergency operations colleagues.
