Today’s industrial action

Following this morning’s industrial action, Chief Executive Anthony Marsh has thanked staff for their commitment to patient care during the four-hour strike and for helping us maintain a safe 999 service.

Of the staff on duty, 14% took full strike action while another 46% worked to a number of exemptions meaning they only responded to the most serious calls where life was at risk.

Anthony Marsh, Chief Executive, said: “I understand that taking strike action is a very difficult decision for our staff and I would like to thank you for finding the balance between demonstrating your views and still caring for our patients this morning - I appreciate your commitment to patient care by still responding to our most seriously ill and injured patients. You work in extremely difficult circumstances every day and you have my full support, as always.”

Action short of a strike continues until 30th November; for full FAQs, please read the separate article on Need to Know.
