Tribute to Neil Ruch

Neil Ruch NTK

Last month, we shared the sad news that Neil Ruch, Senior Paramedic, had passed away. Today, 9th June, his funeral will take place.

The EEAST flag will be lowered for three days as a mark of respect.

Alan Whitehead, Head of Operations Mid and South Essex, paid tribute to Neil:

Neil passed away on the 18th May 2020 after his brave fight with coronavirus in Leicester. Today his family will lay him to rest close to the family home. Due to the current situation, we are unable to honour him in the way that we would have wanted to. Two close friends of Neil’s from the Trust will be present at his funeral, representing the trust. We have passed on our condolences to his immediate family. As we are unable to be there in person, colleagues at Thurrock have arranged a gathering of friends at the same time as the service to pay their respect and remember Neil in their own personal ways whilst maintaining social distancing.

Neil had worked for EEAST as a paramedic since December 2013 and was based in the south west area of Essex. Previous to this he worked for the London Ambulance Service. Neil was a paramedic of the highest standard and someone that made patients feel safe in his care. Neil was a role model for others to look up to.  It is apparent in speaking to colleagues of Neil’s, that he was a warm individual who had a good sense of humour. He was highly respected amongst his peers.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Neil’s family and friends for their sad loss. When the time is right, and are able to, we will arrange a memorial service for Neil’s family, friends and colleagues. We would wish for all to come together to remember and celebrate Neil’s life and career.
