Trust awarded cyber essentials accreditation

After the cyber-attack last month, we are pleased to say that the Trust has been given Cyber Essentials accreditation.

Cyber Essentials is a cyber security initiative from the UK government. It comprises a framework of security controls that organisations should have in place to ease the risk from internet-based threats.

The five key areas covered are:

  • secure configuration
  • boundary firewalls and internet gateways
  • access control and administrative privilege management
  • patch management
  • malware protection .

The assessment was underway prior to the recent global ransomware attack rather than in response to it, and it is reassuring to know that our confidence in our security measures was well founded.

Please remain vigilant though as we all have a role to play in staying safe and secure. Ensure you are extra vigilant with emails you receive - if you don’t recognise the email address, don’t open it, don’t click any links, or open any attachments in the email.

Also be careful around the websites you are visiting, making sure the address of the site you are visiting is the correct address.
