The Trust has secured more than £16.4m of transformational funding from commissioners to make necessary changes to improve patient care.

The funding will go directly into three areas –

  • education and development of new and existing staff
  • replacement of ageing equipment, and introduction of new equipment
  • redundancies to improve the efficiency of corporate and support services.

The largest portion of the money will go towards the education and development of new and existing staff, as emergency care assistants and emergency medical technicians are upskilled and student paramedics are recruited.

The specific detail for each of these areas is included in the performance improvement action plan.

With this funding, the Trust is committed to achieving Red1 and Red2 performance standards across the region as soon as possible.
