The Trust has secured £45,000 in funding from Health Education England (HEE) to support outcomes within the Equality Diversity System and the Workforce Race Equality Standards.

The funding will cover:

  • Rolling out 12 half day training sessions on the project Positive Action. All staff that have a responsibility for selection and recruitment will be invited to attend this training. The sessions will cover learning the difference between positive discrimination and positive action and include steps on how to instigate a positive action. This programme will help to address some of the disproportionality within the Trust in terms of addressing diversity.
  • The Black Minority Ethic (BME) Health Ambassadors Leadership Programme (HALP) will be rolled out to train community leaders in Bedford and Luton, to deliver positive messages to the community in terms of career opportunities.  The programme will target minority ethnic groups with a view to addressing disproportionality within the workforce.  Health Education would like the Trust to lead on this initiative with a view to circulating good practice throughout the Country.
  • Community engagement to promote entry into the paramedic profession.

The work will commence from January to December 2016.
