Video transcript: Dorothy Hosein video on 27th March

Hello colleagues!

As we come to the end of our first week of lock down, socialisation. As I should say social distancing, does feel like isolation for most of you I’m sure.

What an amazing event last night where the NHS got an amazing accolade from the public, we all know the public support us. It was a tearful moment for many of us I’m sure, who are working there socks off. It felt like 'Oh my god that love is really close and it really was'. A Hug Huge thank you to our public for supporting us and I know they will continue to do so.

We’ve had a lot of things obviously happening around volunteering nationally, you will have seen nationally 400 thousand people have offered their services to support folks and that’s tremendous. Just like to say we have had a massive response at EEAST, we are currently going through all of those offers and  I can assure you that we will be using every man and woman and every bit of volunteering to the best we can as we go through our preparation for COVID in the next couple of weeks.

We’ve also had enormous amount of support from organisations, you would of heard this this morning around the fire service offering us support, we’ve had many industries, the car industry, mechanics, all sorts of industries offering us and today I can tell you the people in Melbourn had a lovely surprise from John Lewis when Easter Eggs popped up, so that was a lovely one, but I want to thank all of those partnerships and also if your struggling in anyway around groceries or you know people who are there is a lot of support out there, please speak to you line manager or please make contact with local charities ect. Because honestly it will be in abundance at the moment, what a wonderful nation we live in.

Also, I want to share with you whilst we go through a difficult period of preparing for it and we will be, we are currently are looking at different models for it and an increase of our service with this time, it won’t be the same it will be different.  We also need to keep an eye on recruitment, I am talking about addressing our recruitment gap, we have a significant recruitment gap, we have a number of interviews this weekend obviously they will be by skype. Another really important thing is we’ve closed down our training schools physically, however, we are moving to virtual platforms that’s absolutely essential we need to continue to grow our workforce and develop our workforce and as we get more sophisticated and more streamlined around this you’ll see more in coming weeks.

You’ll have received an enormous amount of information from government this week as we have and also received from Need to Know which is a wonderful engagement tool for us.

Also FAQ, please continue to red Need to Know please continue to contact us with FAQ’s because we want to hear from you. Hearing up the line is really really important, Melbourn continues to plan, I have massive machinery going on here around planning so we are prepared in the most optimal way we can and that our commitment and I want to end by saying I want to give you all a clap and that a clap to all the many support services not just on frontline. The support people in this organisation have stepped up and asked 'Is there anything I can do' and people from all sorts of departments saying I’m prepared to do this and that is tremendous , I’m going to end today by giving you a clap and I look forward to catching up in the early part of next week.

And thank you all once again
