We’re very pleased to announce Dr Mark Patten as our new Medical Director.

Mark, who lives in the east of England, will join us on Tuesday (5th July).

Mark has worked in the medical field for 28 years, both in the NHS and as a Royal Navy reservist.  He has worked at the Luton & Dunstable NHS Foundation Trust for 18 years, starting in the critical care field as a consultant anaesthetist and clinical lead. He then became clinical director of theatres, anaesthesia and critical care, before spending three years as the medical director.

Chief Executive Robert Morton said: “I am delighted that Mark is joining the EEAST team. Mark’s support will help to strengthen our medical leadership, building on the fantastic work that our Deputy Medical Director, Dr Tom Davis, has already put in place.

“Mark’s appointment completes the establishment of a permanent and substantive leadership team, something that the Trust has lacked for a number of years. Creating a stable team and Board is absolutely essential in enabling us to move forwards.  Mark brings a proven track record in critical care and improving clinical quality and outcomes for patients, and I have no doubt he will be a great asset in helping to accelerate our clinical focus.”

Mark said: “Having worked in critical care throughout my career, I am delighted to be joining the ambulance service. I know the vital role that you as staff and volunteers play in saving and changing lives and supporting patients when they need help, care and compassion.

“I look forward to working with all of you across the service as we look at how we can deliver better care, closer to home for our patients.”
