Trust welcomes new Chair

Nicola Scrivings

We are delighted to be able to announce that, following a rigorous interview process by NHS England and NHS Improvement, Nicola Scrivings has been appointed as the new Trust Chair from 17th November 2019.

Nicola joins us from the Cambridgeshire Community Services (CCS) NHS Trust, where she has been the Trust’s Chair since January 2015, having joined the Trust as a Non-Executive Director two years previously. Nicola will succeed interim Chair, Nigel Beverley, who has been with EEAST since July 2019.

Nicola brings more than 20 years’ experience with the Royal Mail, progressing from sales, marketing and operational management, to several director level roles including, from 2009 until 2013, Regional Operations Director (Anglia). Nicola is also currently Group Chair of Cambridge Housing Society, a registered provider of high-quality homes, care and community services within the Cambridge area.

Nicola has said:

“I am very excited to have been invited to become the new Chair of the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust. I have already met many enthusiastic and committed colleagues, who are absolutely focused on providing excellent care for people who need our support. But we are a big organisation with a large area, so I am keen to spend time out and about, hearing directly from you; your thoughts on our challenges and priorities.”

Nicola has close associations with our operational area, as CCS provide ‘Outstanding’ Community Services across Norfolk, Suffolk, Luton, Bedfordshire, Cambridge and Peterborough. She lives in Cambridge, volunteers with the Youth Hostel Association and enjoys being busy with her family.

We would also like to take this opportunity to pay tribute and thanks to our interim Chair, Nigel Beverley, who has guided the Trust through a period of internal change.

This new appointment comes at an important time for the Trust.

Dorothy Hosein, Interim Chief Executive Officer, said:

"I know that Nicola is going to be a real force for good here at EEAST and her arrival will carry forward the improvements that have already commenced, in addition to those that will follow from the staff consultation on the draft Trust corporate strategy recently launched. Nicola is looking forward to meeting with staff and volunteers, soon after she starts on 17th November 2019. I know you will be very welcoming."
