Trust's new Multi-Agency Safeguarding Specialist

Mercedes MacFarlane, Multi-Agency Safeguarding Specialist and Social Worker

The Trust welcomes Mercedes MacFarlane as the new Multi-Agency Safeguarding Specialist/Social Worker:

My name is Mercedes, but everyone calls me Merc!

I've just been employed by the Trust as a multi-agency safeguarding specialist/social sorker.  There will soon be three of us working in the single point of contact (SPOC) team, but I'm the first in - which is both daunting and exciting!

I'm a social worker by profession; specialising in adult social care and mental health.  I was previously working for Milton Keynes Reablement and Hospital Discharge Team which gave me a great insight into the challenges that health and social care services face in working together.

My new job with the Trust will be to support Trust staff and social care teams to streamline referrals and ultimately help patients get the right services they need in a timely manner.

I've been overwhelmed by the positive responses I've had to this new role and the welcome I've had from teams and cannot wait to get fully up and running.

I look forward to working with you.
