Update from Anthony Marsh - 6th August

Chief Executive Dr Anthony Marsh

As you will read about in a separate article, the Trust is making progress in the recruitment of a permanent chief executive so this is my last message to you.

I would like to start by thanking you for all that we have achieved over the last 19 months; the way you have performed in the east of England is truly outstanding. It hasn’t been all about one person, this is an organisation of more than 4,000 staff and 1,500 volunteers and you have all contributed to making the crucial improvements we needed to make. You have proven what you are all capable of doing and I hope that you continue along this path you have started.

Don’t let yourselves be distracted either; people will be watching to see what you do next, so don’t give them an excuse to be negative about EEAST. Pay attention to the general health of the organisation, get behind the visions and values and work on the culture you want EEAST to have. I want you to hold your heads high and keep marching forward – keep putting patients first and continue your dedication to clinical quality and patient standards. Remain focussed on what you know is the right thing to do.

It has been a great pleasure to meet so many of you and get to know you since the start of last year. I am immensely proud of what we have achieved and you have proven you can turn the organisation around. There is still work to be done but I have total faith you can do it - I look forward to hearing about your future success.
