Urgent action required for DBS check compliance

DBS Checked Graphic

Further to our previous communication, and as part of the Trust’s ongoing safer recruitment project, with particular reference to the S11 and S14 Safeguarding audits, all staff records have been reviewed on ESR for evidence of a complete Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, where eligible.

This check was previously known as a Criminal Records Check (CRB).

A number of employees have been identified, where the Trust is unable to evidence a complete DBS record on ESR, and who have not had a recorded DBS check since 2014.

This has now been flagged as a risk by the Executive Leadership Board (ELB) and urgent action is required to rectify this situation to ensure compliance. As such, it will be a requirement for all identified staff to complete a new DBS application, which includes a mandatory review of original ID documents, to facilitate the processing of a new DBS check, at the appropriate level, via TRAC.

Those who are already signed up to the DBS update service will need only to produce their original DBS disclosure certificate, to allow for an online update service check. If you are unable to produce your original certificate, a new application will need to be undertaken to produce a new DBS disclosure certificate.

This is a time sensitive request and the Trust would like to thank all staff for their commitment to safer recruitment and for your prompt action on receipt of an email on this subject.

The project will be monitored and tracked to ensure compliance is achieved in a timely way.

Staff affected have now started to receive communications via TRAC which will invite you to log-in to your online account.

Further information will follow in the coming days, via individual emails generated from TRAC, with details of the actions which are required to be taken.

If you have any queries regarding this process, please do not hesitate to contact Marika Sanko on 01234 243200.
