Using social media

Transparent EEAST crest

The Trust maintains an active Twitter and Facebook presence to help us reach a different audience in a more immediate setting, and we invite support from staff to help us engage and educate the public in this way.

There are a huge number of benefits in using social media, and we should continue to promote a working environment where individuals are treated with dignity and respect – and this extends to social media as well.

We have a social media policy that covers social media for staff both in a work and personal capacity – please take the time to familiarise yourself with the dos and don’ts, but here are some tips in the meantime:

  • keep communications courteous and avoid postings which potentially identify individuals, even in an implied way
  • refrain from comments that can be interpreted as slurs, demeaning, and/or inflammatory – either to the Trust or to an individual that works here
  • what you write is ultimately your responsibility. Recognise that you are legally liable for anything you write or present online
  • respect copyrights
  • avoid posting any personal information, opinions, photos or videos that you would not be happy for your colleagues and managers to see.
