Using technology to improve the way we work

A briefing packed full of information about how we are using new technology to provide a better service to patients by improving the way our fleet is managed is now available.

The update brings together details about the new fleet management system, which is called Fleetwave, RFID and telematics, as well as new systems which are being introduced to manage stock and support compliance. It explains the reasons they are being rolled out and the benefits they will bring, such as providing near real time information about the location of our vehicles, when they have been through the make ready process and when MOTs, servicing or other repairs are due.

The briefing also describes how the technology will gather information to allow us to predict when repairs may be necessary and which parts we will need in stock to keep our vehicles on the road and able to respond to patients. In addition, it explains how the technology will be used to track our clinical assets so that we can service them more effectively while making sure our vehicles are kitted out correctly before they leave the station.

The document has been put together to give staff an insight into the work which goes on behind the scenes to keep our vehicles on the road while giving more detail about some of the changes which have already taken place and those which are planned for the future.
