Using Trust email to share patient data

Transparent EEAST crest

We are aware of a number of incidents recently where staff have emailed personal identifiable data (PID) of patients (name, address, DoB, etc.) using their eastamb email accounts.

This practice must stop immediately, as it is a breach of local and national policy, and in some circumstances may be deemed illegal and lead to prosecution.

The Trust's email use policy can be found on the external website.

Please ensure this is adhered to at all times, in particular section five regarding personal data. PID should only be sent from and to NHSmail (nhsnet) accounts.

If you need an NHSMail account, please request one from the IT service desk.
