Vehicle cleaning operatives to support vehicle decontamination

Ambulance side shot

The Trust is urgently recruiting vehicle cleaning operatives (VCOs) to support vehicle decontamination. Currently, over 150 hours are being lost per day. The new VCOs will help put time back into the system for patient care.

We are recruiting two operatives per HUB, working full time, across 7 days. Initially, aiming to cover as many hours as possible, to give maximum benefit.

The plan is to start this additional support at the sites below, from tomorrow morning (Friday 20th), where possible, with every site covered from Monday (23rd) morning, however this is subject to availability of suitable candidates.

  • Basildon
  • Bury St Edmonds
  • Cambridge
  • Chelmsford
  • Colchester
  • Harlow
  • Hemel Hempstead
  • Huntingdon
  • Ipswich
  • Kempston
  • King’s Lynn
  • Longwater Norwich
  • Luton
  • Peterborough
  • Southend
  • Stevenage
  • Watford

The new VCOs will be managed by Make Ready supervisors, they will be IPC trained locally.

Please be aware that these people will be on station. There may be a short delay whilst ID cards are issued. VCOs will be wearing red polo shirts and have black trousers, so they can be clearly identified.

If you have any questions, please contact Darren Jones.
