Guidance Document for Ventilation

Windows

The law requires employers to ensure an adequate supply of fresh air in the workplace and this has not changed during the pandemic.

Good ventilation, together with social distancing, keeping your workplace clean and frequent handwashing, can help reduce the risk of spreading coronavirus.

The below guidance document shows how good ventilation can be used to reduce the concentration of the virus in the air and therefore reduces the risks from airborne transmission.

Simple steps, such as partially opening windows, can be taken to ensure ventilation is maintained and the guidance provides information when to use natural ventilation and when heating and air conditioning systems can be used to provide safety while maintaining a reasonable temperature at our stations and buildings.
