Video: talking about learning from incidents

It takes enormous bravery to talk openly and honestly with colleagues about making a mistake.

Two paramedics from Norfolk have been talking about their personal experiences of incidents they attended and how reflective practice helped improve the way they work.

Marc Betts and Lisa Gill shared their experiences to help colleagues and to improve patient safety. Furthermore it helps to discuss the emotional and social aspects of working in healthcare and reduce hierarchies between staff to focus on relational aspects of care.

The Trust is developing a culture of learning from all incidents and Marc and Lisa have been the epitome of professionalism in the way they have talked about what happened to them.

They received chief officer commendations at the Trust’s annual staff awards last year.
