Volunteers Week 2019: CFRs

Volunteers Week 2019 - CFRs

With 802 community first responders (CFRs), this is the biggest volunteer group within the Trust.

Our CFRs are volunteers who are trained by us to attend certain types of emergency calls in their local area. Their aim is to reach a potential life-threatening emergency in the first vital minutes before the ambulance arrives.

Recently, we’ve been catching up with just a few of our incredible CFRs. This is what they had to say…

We currently have 243 CFR groups covering all six of the counties covered in our area – Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. In 2018/19, they volunteered a total of 455,345 hours – that’s the equivalent of just over 18,972 days or 51 years!

Thank you to every single one of our CFRs and volunteers here at EEAST for dedicating their time to support us and making it possible for us to provide emergency care to patients in need every minute of every day.
