Volunteers Week 2019: Community Engagement Group

Volunteers Week 2019 - CEG

Our community engagement group (CEG) is made up of 18 keen and enthusiastic volunteers.

The CEG have their own work plan and members of the group sit on many of the Trust’s groups and committees to ensure patient and public representation is integral to how we plan and deliver our services.

There have recently been some changes within our CEG, including the introduction of a new Chair, Jon Rapley:

“Having had an interest in emergency medicine and some years ago learning about Patient and Public Involvement I became a member of the EEAST Community Engagement Group, at that time one of three members living in Suffolk.

“Last Autumn I was elected Chair of the Group; we currently have about twenty members.

“Over the years I and my colleagues have seen the Trust’s activities develop in scope and continue to function under an ever increasing pressure.

“Like many of the group members, I am active elsewhere in PPI as a member of the West Suffolk CCG Community engagement group, giving me an insight into the wider NHS picture. It also gives me an opportunity to represent a view on the ambulance service from a patient's perspective. And a few years ago, I was a patient representative on a West Suffolk Hospital risk committee and its Ethics Group.

“Like all the members of the Community Engagement Group I look forward to continue to support all the service you give day and night to the wider community.”
