Warning issued over legal high

Vertex drug alert

The Norfolk Drug and Alcohol Partnership has issued a public safety alert to warn anyone who has consumed the legal high ‘Vertex’ to seek medical help immediately.

Analysis of Vertex has found that it contains harmful chemicals that pose a serious risk to health and the Partnership has urged people to cease using it.

Vertex is advertised as a type of incense and can be bought on the internet. A patient who has taken the legal high may present with the following symptoms:

  • Profuse sweating
  • Racing heartbeat
  • Delirious ranting
  • Very high body temperature
  • Other signs and symptoms related to the use of cannabis.

If you suspect a patient has taken Vertex, please ensure they are conveyed to hospital as soon as possible.
