What to say if approached by media at incidents

Staff with patient on stretcher at accident and emergency

At our larger incidents, or for those in public places, journalists and the media may well take an interest and send a reporter to the scene.

If you’re on scene and are approached for comment or asked questions, please simply ask them to contact our Trust's press office on 01763 268772 or media@eastamb.nhs.uk, or alternatively point them in the direction of our website where they can find all our contact details. If you’re concerned, you can always give the press office a call as well and we’ll be happy to offer advice where we can.

We’d also like to thank all members of staff who are keeping the Trust’s media team up to speed on incidents of note.

Some incidents can lead to patient meet-ups, but on a day-to-day basis it gives the service a chance to be on the front foot when sending out information to the public. In today’s world of social media, it’s essential we’re getting accurate and timely information ‘out there’ to tell people about what we did at an incident, whilst of course protecting patient confidentiality and dignity.

If you want to contact the communications team as a whole with more general matters, please remember you can email communications@eastamb.nhs.uk.
