World Autism Awareness Week, 1st-7th April

World Autism Awareness Week

The Trust's People and Culture team have got together for World Autism Awareness Week, which is being celebrated from the 1st – 7th April, to join in with Silly Sock Day 2019 fun!

The team will be sporting various silly socks throughout the week, to help raise vital funds for an Eastern Region local independent charity Autism Bedfordshire. This is a voluntary organisation specialising in supporting individuals with Autistic Spectrum Conditions, as well as their families and professionals.

If you, or your teams, want to join in the fun, the idea of Silly Socks is simple: wear silly socks on a date of your choosing between the 1st and 7th April – or every day that week! – and pay a sum of £1, or any additional amount you are able to pay.

In addition to the charity donation, we’d love to see any photos of your silly socks so we can share the fun across the Trust and with Autism Bedfordshire!

Bethan Billington, Deputy Director for People and Culture said: “It’s such a fantastic cause and we are looking forward to raising as much money as possible! Autism Spectrum Disorder is a condition that affects many of our lives, whether this in a care giving or a personal capacity, so this charity is close to our hearts and we want to raise awareness of this condition across society and in the workplace”.

Sarah Grimes, Corporate and Community Fundraiser at Autism Bedfordshire said: "We are so incredibly grateful to East of England Ambulance Service Trust for their generosity and support. The money raised will help to make a real difference to those whose lives have been affected by autism”.
