Today (Wednesday 18th November) is World COPD Day which aims to raise awareness for chronic obstructive lung disease (COPD) and improve care for its sufferers.
The disease is the name used to describe a number of conditions affecting the lungs including emphysema and chronic bronchitis.
Each year, the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) promotes the awareness day by choosing a theme. This year’s subject is “It’s Not Too Late” and was chosen to encourage people to improve their own respiratory health - both before and after a diagnosis of COPD.
It’s common for people to sometimes to mistakenly think asthma is COPD, so it's important for the public to know the signs. With that in mind, Daimon Wheddon has put together a blog on COPD, its symptoms and what steps to take to improve if you have COPD. (Include link to blog)
