What a difference a day makes: #24HoursInEoE

To coincide with Black Friday, last week we held our first ever 24-hour ‘twitterthon’ – where we tweeted live from all our EOCs and an ambulance for 24 hours.

Designed to give a behind the scenes look to the public at what we do, the ’24 hours in EoE’ day highlighted the amazing work of you, our staff and volunteers, and the type and volume of calls we typically receive at this time of year.

Head of Communications Joy Hale said: “We began with an early start in our Chelmsford EOC, then moved around the region to spend time with our Norwich and Bedford control room teams before heading out on the road with a crew in Cambridge taking the public through their night shift.

“By splitting the event between all three of our control rooms and shadowing some of our road staff, we hoped to shine a wider spotlight on what it takes to work on one of our busiest times of year for the ambulance service.

“We’d like to say a huge thank you to all our staff and volunteers for their continued hard work during the festive period and to everyone that got involved in helping to make ‘24 hours in EoE’ a success.”

Over the course of the day (and night!), we posted 172 tweets, had more than 630 retweets, and reached a staggering 275,000 people. You can look back at the full Twitterthon on the Trust’s Twitter page and use the hashtag #24HoursInEOE.

We’re tweeting live from an ambulance in Colchester today (24th December), and in Cambridge on New Year’s Day – follow along using #winterwise!
