For attention of CFRs: issue with defib pads

Clinical kit pic

We have been advised that a batch of defibrillator pads for the G3 Cardiac Science automated external defibrillators (AEDs) may not function correctly.

It’s been reported that PADs under lot number 141125-02 may fail the electrode self-test performed by the Powerheart G3 AED. If the AED fails the self-test, the ‘status indicator’ on the device will be red and the AED will beep.

What you should do now

1. Please examine the pads currently installed in your Cardiac Science G3 AEDs and in your store.

2. Replace any with lot number 141125-02 with replacement pads, available from your community partnership manager, or by contacting supplies.norwich@eastamb.nhs.uk

3. We are asking you to replace pads with this lot number, even if they are in an AED where the status indicator is green.

4. Please return the impacted pads to the Norwich supplies department, or your community partnership manager.

For clarification, this alert affects the Cardiac Science Powerheart G3 AEDs only, which are used by our community first responders. This does not affect the Zoll or Corpuls defibrillators that we use on our ambulances and RRVs. It also does not affect any iPAD AEDs.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your community partnership manager in the first instance.
