“I just want to get out there and treat real patients now”

The Trust’s first student paramedics have completed the classroom part of their course, with all 22 passing their assessments.

Most of the group are now taking their driving course for the next three weeks in Barton Mills, before starting their placements around the region.

Cathy , who will be taking up a placement in Herts, said: “The course has been intense and we have covered a lot in eight weeks, so I just want to get out there and treat real patients now.”

Stefan added: “It’s great that we have all passed. I’m now really looking forward to my placement in Longwater, especially after meeting my mentor this morning.”

Locality Director Matt Broad, who congratulated the student paramedics in Norwich on Friday (30th May), said: “It was great to see our first student paramedics doing so well and hearing about how they have found their first eight weeks of life at the Trust. It will be great to see them on the road in the next month and third manning with our crews, who I know will look after them and support them in the next stage of their training.”
