Update from CEO Anthony Marsh: 'some well deserved recognition'

Chief Executive Dr Anthony Marsh

Last week I talked about the importance of recognising your hard work and this week we have the opportunity to celebrate two members of control room staff who have won national awards. Jenny Coventry, a call handler from Chelmsford EOC, won dispatcher of the year and Becca Howarth from the Norwich clinical support desk won clinician of the year at the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch awards in Bristol on Monday. I know you will join me in sending both many congratulations; it is a brilliant achievement to have been honoured amongst all call handlers and EOC clinicians in the country. I am very proud of their success.

In the same vein, don’t miss your opportunity to get involved in our own Trust awards and nominate a colleague before tomorrow’s deadline (19th September). The Staff Choice Award will recognise one of you for outstanding work and it is up to you to suggest who you think most deserves this honour; so make your choice count and nominate either on this site or on East24.

Having recently received numerous comments about the boots we currently issue for frontline staff, I have asked our supplies team to look at how we improve our provision, by changing to the new Magnum boots.

We are also working hard to get positive coverage in the media to recognise your hard work and all the improvements we are making.  We are making good headway and this week we welcomed Look East to our HART base in Great Notley to film a training exercise and the Hunts Post and Essex Chronicle have both covered patient meet-ups with our crews in the last week. Our most recent patient experience survey results have also been covered widely; in the Harlow Star, the Cambridge News, on the ITV news site and the Hertfordshire Mercury, celebrating the good care you give to patients. Our media coverage was one of the issues I discussed with a lot of you when I joined EEAST in January so it is pleasing to see a lot of positive stories recently. To see all of the news that is published by the communications team, visit the news page on the Trust’s website.
