All about #CardiacCare

cardiac care week

Heart health is at the centre of a cardiac care inspired ‘takeover’ this week, with the public being urged to think about prevention being better than cure.

We saw a 6% increase in cardiac arrest calls in 2015/16 compared with the previous year, and a 5% increase in chest pain calls (in numbers, that’s a staggering 9,713 cardiac arrest calls, and some 64,286 for chest pain!). Across this week, we’ve been using everything from videos to tweets to encourage people to make simple lifestyle choices to help their long-term health - and help reduce the number of cardiac emergencies we attend.

And we’re not just focusing on the public; throughout November we’ll be taking a look at cardiac arrest care internally, covering everything from airway and intubation to ‘the evolving MI’, and offering specialist drop-in training sessions (more information on these coming soon) and cardiac arrest workshops.

Watch this space, and follow our Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts for more using hashtag #CardiacCare.
