Are you signed up to our flu charter?

Side of RRV with lozenge

This year, we are borrowing a great idea from a neighbouring Trust, our Trust Flu Charter.

Our flu champions will encourage other members of staff to support the following messages as part of the charter:

  • The Trust will put ‘care’ and ‘teamwork’ in action by supporting all staff to consider the flu jab
  • I will actively consider having the flu jab in order to help protect myself, the patients I care for, and my family
  • The Trust will work together with services to deliver the flu jab to staff as effectively as possible
  • I will behave in a professional and responsible manner, ensuring that whilst at work, I do nothing to knowingly hinder the staff flu vaccination programme
  • I will show my respect for everyone by actively considering having the flu jab. If I choose not to have the flu jab I will notify the Trust accordingly
  • The Trust will continue to seek excellence by informing staff of the place of the flu jab and in delivering evidence-based protective care
  • I will not propagate or perpetuate flu jab myths
  • The Trust respects everyone’s right to be offered the most effective protection against flu infection by offering all staff (not just those in direct patient facing roles) the jab. It also respects those who make an informed decision to not have the jab. We respect your choice, but need to know everyone is making the right decision for them, based on good information, and not based on myths.

There are several key strands to this charter, all linking to Trust values: the impact of flu; that washing hands is not enough; its protection of staff, their families and patients; and about making good choices, relaying those choices, and busting myths about the vaccine.

If you would like to sign up to the charter, the full document is available here (link). It is new to us, so if you have any comments please email the wellbeing hub.

There are still lots of flu clinics running, you can find your nearest clinic on east24. If you have any queries, please email the wellbeing hub.
