Bariatric project leader scoops national award

David Sexby

David Sexby has won the award for quality in education and training from Health Education East of England (HEE), following his nomination last month.

The awards ceremony took place at the Imperial War Museum in Duxford, Cambridgeshire on Thursday (27th November). David was put forward for the accolade following an 11-month trial of a bariatric vehicle in Ipswich.

David said: “I am delighted to have won the award and want to thank everyone who has been involved in the programme; it has been brilliant. The venue was amazing too, we were sat right under the Concord in the main hangar.”

Trust Chief Executive Anthony Marsh said: “Huge congratulations to David on winning this prestigious award; it is very much deserved.”

Following the successful trial in Ipswich, 16 sets of bariatric equipment, which includes a larger lifting cushion, an electronic bariatric stretcher and a mechanical CPR device, will be brought into service in the next couple of weeks. These sets will be based with 24-hour DLOs across the region.
