Be proud at Pride

The Trust is proud to once again be taking part in Pride events across the country.

Thousands of people from the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community are expected to take part in the celebrations, with the Trust set to join the crowds at the London, Norwich, Brighton and Cambridge events.

Unison LGBT officers Steve Rudd, Felicity Hope Nolan and Paula Lacey will be flying the flag for EEAST, and are excited to welcome others to join them. Felicity said: “We have attended various Pride events over the last few years, and it is an opportunity for EEAST colleagues to join the parade in uniform with other ambulance service staff.

“At London Pride we walk alongside the London Ambulance Service on a course that extends for miles around the tourist sites of London, with thousands of spectators cheering us on and chanting 'NHS'.  It is an event that always makes me feel immensely proud of who I am and what I do.

“It would be fantastic for others could experience this.”

You don’t have to recognise as LGBT to take part; it’s all about celebrating equality, inclusivity, and allowing people to be proud of who they are. If you’d like to come along to support your LGBT colleagues, friends or family then please contact Felicity, Steve and Paula – everyone is welcome.

Chief Executive Robert Morton said: “Playing an active role in all of the regional Pride events is something that is important to the Trust and our people. It is important for us to use events to reach out to the LGBT community, improve understanding and promote ourselves as an inclusive employer.

“I want everyone working at EEAST to feel like they can be themselves at work, and that they will always be treated with dignity and respect.”

Pride events the Trust is attending:

  • London Pride, 8th July
  • Norwich Pride, 29th July
  • Brighton Pride, 4-6th August
  • Cambridge Pride, date to be confirmed.
