Become a PU Trainer in NES

Norwich PTS vehicles

Applications are invited from all non-emergency patient transport staff within Cambridgeshire, Essex, and Suffolk to become a trainer for the annual PU (professional update) programme.

The role predominately involves the delivery and presentation of yearly updates of clinical and mandatory training. As a PU trainer you would play a part in supporting the training requirements for new recruits. There will also be elements of mentorship and assessments to support colleagues in their ongoing development.

Although we are not looking for teachers, we are looking for people with flair and enthusiasm who can present pre-designed sessions in a way that holds the interest of their peers. You will need to be able to communicate calmly and clearly. You will also be required to take some ownership of administering the course, e.g. setting up and clearing the room, organising your own materials and equipment.

Successful applicants will be required to attend and pass a three day instructional methods course to become part of the training team and will need to be released from their substantive role to deliver training to their colleagues for up to 15 days per year. It is also a requirement for all trainers to undertake an award in education and training, which will be funded by the Trust, and will require some course work to be completed in your own time.

Unfortunately an enhancement to your basic salary will not be offered for taking on these alternative duties. Operational staff who are successful will be backfilled on their rota but managerial/administrative roles will not be backfilled.

Applicants should submit a brief response, of no more than 750 words, to the following question;

What skills do you have to contribute to NES updates and training?

You need to evidence the skills and experience described in your application, which will be objectively assessed. Please submit your application by the 8th August.
