Callers asking for personal details: do you know what to do?

RRV with blue lights

We’ve had word that a fellow NHS trust recently received a call from someone claiming to be a Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspector, who asked for personal staff details as part of an independent complaint.

Please be vigilant both on the telephone and face to face, and don’t release any personal details of individual staff members to unknown people. This is the case even if the caller claims to be from a legitimate organisation.

If you take a telephone call and you are being asked for personal information, please take down the caller’s details, let them know someone will call them back, and raise it with your line manager. As a general rule, please don’t give out mobile telephone numbers to callers unless you have express authority to do so.

Any CQC enquiries or calls should please be directed to Tracy Nicholls, Head of Clinical Quality.  If she is not available, then once again, please get the caller’s details and email Tracy with this information.
