Charity run to help fund new Norwich CFR group

A community first responder (CFR) is set to take part in an inaugural road race this weekend to help save more lives in Norfolk.

Craig Macdonald, coordinator of Sprowston Community First Responders, will join thousands of other runners for Run Norwich on Sunday (30th August).

Craig is hoping to raise hundreds of pounds by completing the 10k distance, which will help fund new life-saving equipment.

The group has been covering the Sprowston, Old Catton and Thorpe St Andrew areas for the last 18 months and has a team of eight volunteers.

So far this year CFRs have attended more than 120 medical emergencies in the Norwich area, including ten cardiac arrests.

Craig, who is running his first 10k, is fundraising to buy new kit to help set up a new group for the south west area of Norwich.

He said: “I’m looking for as much support as I can get to help pay for the life-saving equipment needed to create the CFR team in south west Norwich. We rely solely on donations and every pound counts.”
