Clinicians needed to help beat our BP check record in Suffolk

Are you available for a couple of hours next month to provide BP checks and promote better health in Suffolk?

We’re linking up with the Rotary Club of Felixstowe Land Guard on 22nd April for our now traditional blood pressure check day – all to try and help reduce the incidence of stroke in the community.

The event is being held at Great Eastern Square, Felixstowe, and will run from 9.30am-4pm. We need clinicians to join us to help with blood pressure checks and give out health advice to passers-by. Last year the team achieved a Trust record of 256 BP checks – but are hoping for even more this time around!

Area Clinical Lead Daimon Wheddon, who is helping to organise the event, said: “We all know of the dangers of stroke, and we also know that blood pressure is a key indicator in risk level.

“The day coincides with the Stroke Association’s ‘national pressure check day’. Our support is greatly appreciated not just by the Rotary Club, but by the people we see – especially if we refer someone to their GP for further investigations.

“Everyone is welcome, and even if you can just provide a couple of hours it will be a great help.”

If you’d like to know more or offer a few hours to help out, please contact Damo on 07595653492, or by emailing damon.wheddon@eastamb.nhs.uk.
