Community first responder fundraising day hailed as ‘a fantastic success’

A network of Hertfordshire community first responders (CFRs) has thanked the public for donations after an extremely successful fundraising event for new equipment on Friday (17th June).

Responders Sharon Smith, of Newgate, and Ray Saunders of St Albans spent the day teaching CPR to the public which also saw a visit from local dignitary Lynne Sparks, Deputy Mayor of Welwyn Hatfield.

Sharon said: “The day was a fantastic success with lots of interest and donations from the public.”

With fundraising carrying on throughout the weekend, and the help of Boots in the Howard Centre, all in all a total of £345 was raised, with Boots HQ pledging to donate more too.

Sharon added: “The Welwyn residents really engaged with the cause and there was genuine interest from some wanting to become CFRs to restart the Welwyn group. Our thanks go to Alison Gelling, Store Manager of Boots and her team who were amazing support on the day and also thanks to the Howard Centre management team.”
