Dispatcher’s Santa run for little Iyla

Dispatcher Matthew Harvey has thanked colleagues in Chelmsford and across the region for fundraising in the name of his daughter Iyla ahead of the next sprint towards his family’s charitable goals.

Little Iyla was diagnosed with a condition known as  Wolf Hirschorn Syndrome which causes frequent seizures, infections, partial hearing loss and delayed development. Iyla’s most recent hurdle is scoliosis which is currently being treated by a back brace but will be corrected by spinal surgery by the age of six. The family have been fundraising to buy new sensory items and private physiotherapy to help prepare her for the spinal surgery. Iyla only receives one physio session every six to nine weeks but requires one a week.

Next month, Matthew and a group of friends will be donning their Santa suits and joining a 5km inflatable run in Ipswich. All funds raised will go to Iyla’s physio sessions.

Matthew said: “The service as a whole have been brilliant and supported me and my family since Iyla’s birth. Thank you to you all, we are very grateful.”
