Double the praise: two patients thank staff in emotional reunions

Two former patients from Cambridgeshire have thanked the respective staff who treated them following their recent reunions.

Last Sunday (30th October), nine year old Lucy Grossman and her family visited Huntingdon station where they met paramedic Nathan Latimer and emergency medical technician Kelly Thompson under much happier circumstances.

They were involved in a high speed collision on the A14 near Hemingford on the 25th September which resulted in Lucy requiring medical care. Despite the circumstances, Lucy’s family escaped relatively unscathed, with Lucy suffering a minor facial injury.

Lucy’s mum Jenny Grossman praised both Nathan and Kelly and said: “The crews were fantastic on the day, it was a really scary time for us but they did everything in their power to keep us calm whilst making sure Lucy was okay.”

She added: “They are a credit to the ambulance service and I just want to say a massive thank you for all of their efforts.”

Meanwhile, Trevor Whitby thanked ambulance staff for “not giving up on him” after he suffered a cardiac arrest.

He had his heart shocked 16 times on 13th April and was in intensive care for six weeks after he collapsed at his Wisbech home.

The retired forklift driver was this week (3rd November) reunited with the five ambulance staff who helped save his life. He also presented £350 to the EEAST Charitable Fund.

The 70-year-old cannot remember a three month period of this year. However, he said he will always be grateful to Daniel Hansen, Matt Webb, Dave Lang, Kyle Everett and Martyn Harrell.
