Dozens learn life-saving skills at Norfolk event

Dozens of people learnt life-saving skills at a south Norfolk village at the weekend.

The ‘you could save a life’ event was held at Starston Jubilee Hall, near Harleston, which was organised by Waveney Community First Responders (CFR).

Around 20 people attended where they were taught life-saving skills such as CPR and how to use a defibrillator.

Shaun Button, co-ordinator, said the event went “really well” and the CFR group was set for a fundraising boost for later in the year.

“We were very encouraged with how many children came and asked lots of questions and wanted to have a go at CPR on the manikins.

“The event had a major high for us when the owner of the Wortwell Bell pub kindly announced that we are the chosen charity of 2016,” he said.

The pub, near Harleston, holds a monthly charity quiz and already has two beer, barbecue and music festivals planned for this year, which the CFR group will benefit from.
