Driving and speed limits

RRV with blue lights

All staff are reminded that they are to comply with the posted speed limit for the class of vehicle they are driving.

No one is permitted to exceed speed limits unless they are legally claiming an exemption from the posted speed limit when dealing with an emergency call. To do so is a criminal offence and, if detected, is likely to result in a fine and penalty points on your licence but in more serious cases this may result in being taken to court by the police. Also unless claiming a legal exemption, driving at speeds greater than posted limits can cause discomfort to passengers in the vehicle and increase mechanical wear on the vehicle.

It is also important to remember that increasing your speed above the national speed limit increases the risk of causing a road traffic collision and above all increases the level of danger to you and other road users.
