End of paper tax discs for vehicles

Tax disc

With effect from 1st October, the Driver Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) will cease producing tax discs for all vehicles in the UK (except those based in Northern Ireland).

Any new vehicle on the road from this date will not have a tax disc fitted, and any vehicle with a tax disc that expires after the 1st October will not have a replacement supplied at the date of expiry, nor will any damaged or lost discs be replaced.

You can remove a tax disc in a Trust vehicle and dispose of it after 1st October too.

The DVLA will still issue reminders to the Trust for vehicles which are under its control, and to the lease companies for Trust lease cars. The fleet department will continue to apply for vehicle taxation in the same manner, and the team will record that the tax has been issued on the vehicle’s electronic file, with a paper record also being held for the life of the vehicle with the Trust.
