Have you had a 999 call that takes the biscuit?

Bedford EOC 1

Earlier this year, the Trust shared some of its most inappropriate 999 calls as part of It’s Your Call campaign.

The campaign aims to inform the public about how 999 calls are handled and prioritised, and urges people to make the right call when seeking medical help.

We highlighted a number of inappropriate calls, including a woman who called 999 for an ill cat, a man asking for assistance with his passport, and released audio from an extremely abusive caller.

The communications team is now calling for your help again by highlighting the most inappropriate calls of 2016 so far.

This could be a hoax call or someone phoning 999 for a minor medical condition. Have you received a call that tops the man in Essex who called us regarding a dead squirrel last year? Have you attended what was believed to be a life-threatening emergency, only to discover it was minor?

If you come across such calls, please email media officer Adam Gretton with the CAD number at adam.gretton@eastamb.nhs.uk.
