We’re pleased to announce that Gary Morgan has been appointed as the Head of Emergency Operations Centre (EOC).

Gary, who will be looking after all three EOCs said: “I’m really looking forward to taking on the role and working with the fantastic EOC teams around the patch.

“My interest in the emergency operations centre started when I worked as a control manager at Warwickshire Ambulance Service (where I also completed a spell as a call taker and dispatcher as part of the development for that role). I really look forward to getting back into the EOC environment and most importantly, getting out there to meet and talk to all our EOC staff.

“One of the first things we will be looking at is our deployment model following the shift in the mix of ambulances and cars being deployed.

If you have any ideas or thoughts you’d like to share with me, please speak to me when I am on the control room sites or email me at any time (gary.morgan@eastamb.nhs.uk).”

Chief Executive Dr Anthony Marsh added: “Our emergency operations centres are a core part of our service, dealing with more than 900,000 calls a year. The staff in the three centres in Bedford, Chelmsford and Norwich work tirelessly 24/7 to make sure our patients get a good quality service from the moment they pick up the phone.

“It’s so important to make sure that this part of our service has a strong, dependable leader that can give EOC the attention and support it deserves, and I’m delighted to welcome Gary to the position."
