Intelligent conveyance scheme ends

Staff with patient on stretcher at accident and emergency

Our intelligent conveyance scheme, designed to help manage pressure at acute hospitals, will no longer be continuing as the pilot has not been extended into the new financial year.

Intelligent conveyance allowed us to change the destination A&E for ambulances, when the system identified that some hospitals were under too much pressure to receive patients in a timely manner. This meant that appropriate patients could be conveyed to the next nearest alternative hospital, to help tackle the surges in demand at individual A&Es.

Unfortunately, following the submission of a business case by EEAST, it has not been commissioned for this financial year, and as such finished last Friday (15th April).

Thank you to everyone involved, whose hard work has allowed us to run this scheme for the past four months, and to our patient-facing colleagues for their support on the ground.
