Is your clinical role on your epaulettes?

All staff have been asked to ensure they are wearing their correct clinical role on their epaulettes, so that it is easily identifiable by ambulance and hospital colleagues alike.

Your epaulettes do not need to say ‘East of England Ambulance Service’ on them; it is more important for your clinical position to be recognisable, so HCRT, ECA, student paramedic, EMT, paramedic, CCP or ECP.

There has been some confusion over which epaulettes student paramedics should wear after their first year of training; once you have completed and passed all assessments and requirements for year one you will be operating at the same clinical grade as EMT and you should wear EMT epaulettes. However until this point is reached you will still be learning under supervision in a university programme, your student paramedic epaulettes are to be worn.

If you need clarification on which epaulettes to wear, please speak to your line manager, who will also help with ordering replacements if you are not wearing the correct ones.
